Correct rotary airlock valve sizing depends on the material and process conditions. A valve that is too small may not reach the required capacity, while a valve that is too large may feed unevenly or create installation problems.
This guide explains what information buyers should prepare before asking for rotary airlock valve selection support.
1. Material name
Different materials flow differently. Powder, granules, pellets, flakes and abrasive materials may require different rotor and housing considerations.
2. Bulk density
Bulk density is important for estimating feeding volume and capacity. If the exact value is not available, provide the best available process data or a material sample description.
3. Required capacity
Capacity may be described by weight per hour or volume per hour. Please specify the unit clearly.

4. Particle size and flow behavior
Particle size, moisture, stickiness and bridging tendency can affect discharge stability. Oversized particles or sticky materials may require special attention during selection.
5. Temperature

6. Pressure difference
For pneumatic conveying systems, pressure difference is important for airlock performance. Provide the pressure above and below the valve if available.
7. Installation and flange dimensions
Provide inlet and outlet size, flange standard, installation space and drive position requirement when possible.
