Regular maintenance helps keep a rotary airlock valve feeding steadily and sealing properly. The checklist below can be used as a general reference for routine inspection. Always follow the plant’s own safety and lockout procedures before maintenance.
Daily visual checks
- Check whether material discharge is stable
- Listen for abnormal noise or vibration
- Check for visible leakage around the shaft and housing
- Observe whether the drive runs smoothly
- Confirm that the inlet and outlet are not blocked
Regular mechanical checks
- Inspect rotor blade wear
- Check housing and end cover wear
- Inspect shaft seals
- Check bearing temperature and condition
- Check reducer and motor alignment
- Confirm bolts and guards are secure
Cleaning checks
Some powders may build up in the rotor pockets or around the inlet. Material buildup can reduce capacity and increase jamming risk. Cleaning frequency should be based on the material condition and operating environment.
Pneumatic conveying checks
For airlock valves used under pressure difference, monitor air leakage, feeding stability and conveying line performance. Increased leakage may indicate wear or seal issues.
Maintenance records
Keep records of inspection date, material handled, operating hours, observed wear, replaced parts and abnormal conditions. This information helps evaluate whether the valve should be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.
