Rotary Valve vs Screw Feeder

Rotary valves and screw feeders are both used for bulk material handling, but they solve different problems. A rotary airlock valve is usually selected when air sealing, controlled discharge and compact installation are important.

Choose a Rotary Valve When

• An airlock is needed between different pressure zones
• The equipment is below a silo, dust collector or pneumatic conveying line
• Compact vertical discharge is preferred
• Moderate metering accuracy is enough

Choose a Screw Feeder When

• Long horizontal conveying distance is required
• The process needs controlled extraction from a wide inlet
• Material bridging needs mechanical agitation across a larger opening

Combined Systems

• Some processes use a screw feeder for extraction and a rotary airlock valve for sealing before pneumatic conveying
